Standards
This module addresses Next Generation Science Standard HS-LS1-1: Construct an argument based on evidence for how the structure of DNA determines the structure of proteins which carry out the essential functions of life through systems of specialized cells.

Module Objectives
- You will be able to identify the various research that lead to the hypotheses of DNA and its structure and function and ultimately the technology that led to its discovery with at least 75% accuracy on an online quiz.
- You will discuss DNA research on your blog and on the blogs of your peers that meets "acceptable" or "exceeds expectations" according to the blog and blog response rubric.
- You will participate in a DNA Extraction lab and complete the pre-lab quiz with at least 75% accuracy.

- Watch the DNA Lecture video and complete the DNA Structure Notes worksheet.
- Watch the Building Blocks of DNA video.
- Read Chapter 10, Section 1 of your textbook and complete the chapter review questions for this section only as a self-check for learning. Submit your review questions in the appropriate Assignment dropbox on Edmodo.
- Take the DNA Structure Module Quiz located on Edmodo. This quiz will be automatically graded.
- Respond to the following discussion prompt on your blog: Who in your opinion contributed the most to the research that led to our current understanding of DNA? Why? Your response will be graded with the class Blog Response rubric.
- Respond to the discussion to at least one of your peers on his or her blog. Your response will be graded with the Blog Response rubric.
- Print the DNA Extraction Lab procedure and read them thoroughly.
- Take the DNA Extraction Pre-Lab quiz located on Edmodo. This quiz will be automatically graded. Note - Lab will be performed Monday after the culmination of this module. Post-lab responses will be submitted in the next module.
- Participate in the Google+ Hangout. This is optional but you are required to participate at least twice in this unit.
